Now days Elecampane has been used by people with cough related bronchitis or emphysema. Elecampane has actions, which are expectorant, anti-tussive (reduces coughing), sedative, anti-fungal, relaxing, warming, and anti-microbial.
Elecampane can soothe bronchial tube linings and act as an expectorant for lung cleansing, with the added benefit of having an antibacterial and antimicrobial action which works well in infections.
The plant’s bitter tonic properties stimulate the appetite and digestion, increasing the flow of bile, and can support a debilitated respiratory condition, particularly helpful following influenza or bronchitis.
Externally Elecampane has been used for scabies, herpes and other skin diseases.
