Description
This is because it has a tannin content that helps to strengthen and tone tissues. It also makes a good digestive tonic to help tone the gut linings.
Traditionally it has been used for Pre-Pregnancy. I used it through all three pregnancies and the first two my waters had to be manually broken as I was drinking more than I needed to. I knew my babies were safe though. It is naturally high in magnesium, potassium, iron and b-vitamins. All the nutrients needed during pregnancy.
It helps to strengthen the uterine and pelvic muscles. Some midwives say leads to shorter and easier labours. (I would vouch for that, 6 hours, 1.5 hours and 5 hours my three were). It does not just have to be taken during pregnancy, it is a great general tonic for the entire female reproductive system helping to ease PMS and endometriosis symptoms.
Topically a cold poultice or infusion can be used for Sunburn, eczema and skin rashes.
A mouth wash can be made for gingivitis or gum disease
