Picrorrhiza kurroa also contains apocynin, a powerful anti-inflammatory agent, which also reduces platelet aggregation. It is used to treat the liver, jaundice and upper respiratory conditions, as well as fevers, chronic diarrhoea, constipation and dyspepsia.
The actions of Picrorhiza kurroa are antibacterial, antiperiodic, cathartic (in large doses), laxative(in smaller doses) stomachic and bitter tonic, hepatoprotective, anticholestatic (relieves obstruction of bile salts), anti-inflammatory, anti-allergy, antioxidant; modulates the immune system and liver enzyme levels.
It is a hugely potent antiviral and I have used it with chronic fatigue clients quite successfully. You have to be able to overcome its strong powerful and bitter taste.
