Angelica throughout history has been used as a fabulous remedy for colds, coughs, pleurisy, wind, colic, rheumatism and diseases of the urinary organs.
It is a useful agent for feverish conditions, acting as a diaphoretic.
Its major herbal action is a stimulating expectorant which means that when we have a cough that is not bringing up any phlegm then we need to bring in the angelica. It is generally used as a stimulating expectorant, when combined with other expectorants the action of which is enhanced, and to a large extent diffused, through the whole of the pulmonary region.
The main constituents of Angelica are volatile oils, valeric acid, angelic acid, angelicin, safrole, scopoletin, and linoleic acid, making it useful in the treatment of fevers, colds, coughs, flatulent colic and other stomach disorders.
